| At Rosebank we see many children and adults who have been
touched in a yucky way, that made them feel uncomfortable. Sometimes adults call this
sexual abuse. When someone does this to a kid it can make them feel lots of confusing feelings. They might start having worries or problems that give them a hard time. Some kids that come to Rosebank have trouble sleeping, have scary dreams, or have worries. At Rosebank there are counsellors who can help them with these problems. |

What’s a counsellor? A counsellor is someone who listens and helps kids with any worries or problems they might have. Coming to see a counsellor can be a lot of fun. There is painting, drawing, playing and talking. Sometimes it is difficult to talk about feelings and worries, so it’s good to know that at counselling kids don’t have to talk about anything they don’t want to. |

Abuse is a CRIME!!! News has been received from many places, including the police & schools, which confirms that Child Sexual Abuse is a crime. Not only is it a crime, it is never the child’s fault. Yes, you heard right, it is never the child’s fault. Only the adult who did it can be held responsible. This is great news for many kids who have been feeling like it was somehow their fault. As one child told us, “I felt really bad about it and thought it must have been something I had done, but hearing this news is a great relief”. Remember, sexual abuse is never the child’s fault. |

| Tricks and Secrets You may have been to a magic show where a magician did some tricks. Sometimes we play tricks on our friends and they play tricks on us. Most tricks are fun and don’t hurt anyone. But some tricks are not fun and do end up hurting kids. When someone sexually abuses children, they try hard to make sure that it stays a secret. They often trick kids to keep them silent. They sometimes tell them lies, or give them presents to make sure that they keep it a secret. This makes it really hard to tell!!! Being tricked like that can make kids feel really confused. Sometimes people who sexually abuse children even trick their parents and family, so they don’t know what's happening. Sometimes parents and families get confused feelings when they find out about the yucky touching. Sometimes tricks stop kids from telling for a long time. Kids that tell are really brave and it’s never their fault!
