               For Young People

At Rosebank we support young people to heal from sexual abuse.  When someone abuses a child or young person, they can experience lots of confusing feelings, such as shame, guilt, self-blame, anger, confusion, fear and worry, just to name a few.

Young people might start having worries or problems that give them a hard time.

What’s a counsellor?
A counsellor is someone who listens and helps people with any worries or problems they might have.

Coming to see a counsellor can sometimes be fun. We often do painting and drawing as well as talking. Sometimes it is difficult to talk about feelings and worries, so it’s good to know that at counselling people don’t have to talk about anything they don’t want to.

Rosebank counsellors can help or you can check out this link for more information about Choosing a Counsellor.

Here are some poems and quotes from young people who have come to Rosebank:

To Be

The way that I feel tonight
I may or may not feel again
For the girl that I love
Is tearing me apart
Was it meant or not meant
To be what will it be
To be or not to be
Is this the end.

Friendship

Friendship is a garden
Where all good things grow
But as in good and evil
The weeds are there also
But if I was to weed the garden
With tender loving care
All the weeds would be gone
But you would always be there.

Untitled

You look out to the horizon
Wondering what life would have been like
If things weren't
The same
Life would be different
You would be different.
If you wait a while
You’ll get there
You’ll be different
Wait, watch and wait
And you’ll be different, you’ll get there
Things will get there
You’ll get there, just wait.
